Australian media reported on Wednesday that former Australia batsman Michael Slater has been arrested in Sydney following a home violence incident.

Slater’s supervisor Sean Anderson declined to touch upon the studies. New South Wales (NSW) Police mentioned on Tuesday they’d opened an investigation right into a report of an incident of home violence final week.

“After questioning, detectives went to a house in Manly at around 9:20 pm and spoke to a 51-year-old man. He has since been arrested and taken to Manly Police Station,” NSW Police mentioned in a press release on Wednesday.

Opener Slater performed 74 Tests and 42 One Day Internationals from 1993–2001, earlier than remaining a fixture on Australian TV screens as a cricket commentator for 15 years.

Slater was dropped from Seven Network’s cricket commentary crew final month after three years with the Australian broadcaster. The 51-year-old had courted controversy in May after a heated change of phrases in opposition to Prime Minister Scott Morrison on social media.

Slater mentioned Morrison had “blood” on his palms as the federal government briefly banned Australians from returning house from India because the Asian nation battled a significant COVID-19 outbreak.
