Former selector Sarandeep Singh has lashed out at Ravi Shastri over his remarks in regards to the logic behind the three wicketkeeper-batsmen in India’s 2019 Cricket World Cup squad.

Sarandeep was a part of the MSK Prasad-led choice committee, which named the World Cup squad. His remarks got here after former India coach Ravi Shastri mentioned in an interview that he had “no say” in omitting Rayudu from the group and that there was no argument to have three wicketkeepers within the group.

“I had no say in it. But I was not well with the selection of three wicket-keepers for the World Cup. Either Ambati or Shreyas could have come. What was the logic of keeping MS Dhoni, Rishabh and Dinesh together? But I never also did not interfere with the work of the selectors, except when I was asked for feedback or as part of a general discussion,” Shastri had advised the Times of India.

To this former selector and spinner Sarandeep Singh defined that the choice committee did nothing with out discussing it with captain Virat Kohli after which coach Ravi Shastri.

“All three wicketkeepers are superb as batsmen. A selector doesn’t intervene with the choice. Rishabh Pant was picked after Shikhar Dhawan was injured throughout the World Cup. We already had an opener in KL Rahul,” Sarandeep Singh advised ANI.

“So, we had been on the lookout for somebody who would come into the center order and bat and play huge pictures. This is the explanation why Rishabh Pant was within the group. But selecting the enjoying XI is the job of the group administration.

“The choice committee doesn’t intervene on this. If you take a look at the collection of Rishabh Pant within the 2019 World Cup, he was not his first selection.

“MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik were in the team and we were winning all the matches. We also topped the table. But suddenly with these things coming, it is disturbing for us as we did our job fairly,” Sarandeep mentioned.
