Congress chief Rahul Gandhi Friday attacked the BJP over the detention of a journalist and a few activists protesting towards an artiste’s arrest and later forcing them to strip all the way down to their undergarments whereas in police custody in Madhya Pradesh, claiming the federal government of ‘new India’ is afraid of the reality.

“The fourth pillar of democracy disrobed within the lockup! Either sit within the lap of the federal government and sing their praises, or go to jail,” Gandhi stated in a tweet in Hindi, sharing a screenshot of a media report. The authorities of ‘New India’ is afraid of the reality, he added.

In Madhya Pradesh, native journalist Kanishk Tewari and some activists who had been protesting towards the arrest of Neeraj Kunder, director of Indravati Drama School, had been detained and compelled to strip all the way down to their undergarments whereas in police custody in Sidhi district on April 2.

After the photographs of the detained individuals in undergarments went viral on social media, two native police officers had been transferred.


Police claimed that the journalist was arrested together with others as he had additionally joined them to stage a protest “in an unauthorized manner” in entrance of the Kotwali police station towards the arrest of Kunder.

The Editors Guild of India, nevertheless, stated Tewari was protecting the protest towards the arrest of the theater artist who had allegedly made some indecent remarks towards a BJP MLA and his son.
