The Cyber Crime Branch officers of Surat Police on Friday arrested an 18-year-old engineering pupil for allegedly sending derogatory messages to a 26-year-old girl on social media and posting morphed footage of her on her.
In a grievance lodged with the Cyber Crime Branch of Surat metropolis on June 22, the girl had mentioned that she obtained a pal request on Facebook from an unknown individual, which she accepted. Later she began speaking to him. The girl alleged that the person despatched her abusive messages on Facebook and posted morphed footage of her on social media.
Acting on the grievance, the cybercrime police discovered the social media account to be pretend, and traced its consumer – an 18-year-old youth from Porbandar, a 3rd 12 months pupil {of electrical} engineering diploma.
The police introduced the accused to Surat and afterward Friday evening arrested him underneath sections 500, 504 of the IPC and related sections of the Information Technology Act.
