Authorities have seized a large 218-kg heroin haul off Lakshadweep that’s estimated to be value round Rs 1,526 crore within the worldwide market, an announcement mentioned Friday.
Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Indian Coast Guard on May 18 intercepted two boats named “Prince” and “Little Jesus” from which they seized 218 packets of high-grade heroin weighing a kilo every, mentioned the DRI assertion.
The company mentioned it launched an operation after gathering intelligence over a number of months that indicated that two Indian boats would sail from the Tamil Nadu coast and obtain narcotics in giant portions someplace within the Arabian Sea through the second or third week of May.

Follow-up searches are happening at numerous areas and additional investigation is in progress.
This is the fourth main drug bust by DRI prior to now month. It seized 205.6 kg of heroin from an import consignment of gypsum powder on the Kandla port on 20 April, 396 kg of yarn laced with heroin at Pipavav port on 29 April and 62 kg of heroin on the Air Cargo Complex on the Delhi airport on 5 May. These three hauls are collectively valued at round Rs 2,500 crores within the worldwide market.
