Yuvraj Singh stated he was anticipated to be named India’s captain for the 2007 T20 World Cup earlier than the selectors went with MS Dhoni, stated the southpaw. Yuvraj stated that as a result of most senior gamers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble had determined to skip the 2007 World Cup, he thought he would lead the group on the idea of seniority.

“There was a lot of turmoil in Indian cricket and then there was a two-month tour of England and a one-month tour with South Africa and Ireland in between. And then there was a month of the T20 World Cup so four months away from home,” Yuvraj stated within the ’22 Yarns’ podcast.

“So maybe the seniors thought they needed a break and obviously, nobody took the T20 World Cup seriously. I was looking forward to captain India in the T20 World Cup and then it was announced that MS Dhoni would be the captain,” stated Yuvraj, who retired from worldwide cricket in June 2019.

“Yes, obviously, whoever becomes the captain, you have to support that man, whether it is Rahul (Dravid), whether it is (Sourav) Ganguly, whoever is in the future, at the end of the day you are a Want to be the team man and I was like that,” he stated.
