‘I do not assume you may come and repeat what they do. R Ashwin just isn’t Nathan Lyon: Ian Chappell

Former Australia captain-turned-broadcaster Ian Chappell believes Australian spinners mustn’t attempt to replicate the Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja though their strategies have been vastly profitable within the four-match sequence.

“Often they (opposition spinners) attempt to replicate the abilities (of Ashwin and Jadeja). Talking about Ashwin and Jadeja… they know what to do in India. Ashwin is an excellent bowler, it would not matter the place he bowls. I’ve seen him bowl in Australia, he bowled very properly. He can be very good. He does precisely what he has to do. Chappell informed ESPNcricinfo, although Jadeja just isn’t too completely different, though he has realized a number of issues and improved his bowling, however he has the talent set which is ideal for India and the 2 work properly collectively.

Chappell additional mentioned, “In this game, I thought Ashwin bowled well, but Jadeja got seven wickets, but that’s what happens on some days. I don’t think you can come and do what they do.” Can repeat. Nathan Lyon just isn’t R Ashwin, he has to bowl like Nathan Lyon and he has tried to try this.”

Ashwin and Jadeja have taken a complete of 31 wickets between them within the first two Tests and have shared 130 wickets in opposition to Australia in 10 Tests performed at dwelling in opposition to the opposition since 2013.

For Australia, then again, Todd Murphy, who made his Test debut in Nagpur, has been the main wicket-taker with 10 scalps in two matches. Nathan Lyon leads the tally with eight.

Both the groups shall be head to head for the third Test ranging from March 1 on the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
