I-League qualifiers will demand a brutal mindset: FC Bengaluru United coach

FC Bengaluru United head coach Richard Hood has welcomed the choice to carry the I-League qualifiers in September however stated it will “demand a brutal mindset” because of the extended inactivity amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021-22 season of the I-League can be held in Kolkata and a complete of 13 groups will compete for the trophy.

A most of 10 groups will take part within the I-League Qualifiers, with all matches performed in Bengaluru.

Commenting on the All India Football Federation’s resolution, Hood stated, “All of us on the membership are grateful for the chance to be again within the sport and compete.

“Our immediate task now is to regroup the team, assess their conditioning level and start preparing for the I-League qualifiers in September.”

FC Bengaluru United can be hoping to select up the momentum with their championship-winning efficiency within the BDFA Super Division earlier this yr.

“Our shared experiences driving success within the BDFA Super Division have instilled a robust sense of belief and credibility in our gamers, our processes and the environment.

“Having said that, we are aware of the level of football in the qualifiers and the brutal mentality of tournament football. There will be a big reset in our approach to building what we have so far,” Hood stated.

Hood emphasised the group’s overarching ambition to qualify for the I-League and stated that within the coming months, all consideration could be in the direction of this goal.

Speaking on the motion plan, Hood stated the precedence could be to “focus on practice games and any competitive fixtures that we can secure over the next two months.”

“This would be the greatest accelerator in the direction of constructing concord on the pitch and also will be the truest check of understanding the place we stand and the gaps that we have to tackle.

“The training program and everything within it is geared towards a singular outcome of victory in terms of our performance and the result on the scoreboard,” he stated.

FC Bengaluru United will look to capitalize on their house benefit within the qualifiers and make it to the I-League, which is about to start in December.
