India despatched 5 lakh Covaxin doses to Afghanistan

India on Saturday despatched 5 lakh doses of its indigenous Kovid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, to Afghanistan.

“Today, India supplied the next batch of humanitarian aid containing 500,000 doses of COVID Vaccine (COVAXIN) to Afghanistan. The same was handed over to Indira Gandhi Hospital, Kabul,” mentioned the Ministry of External Affairs.

An extra 500,000 doses can be provided within the coming weeks.

It mentioned the Indian authorities has dedicated to offering humanitarian assist to the Afghan folks consisting of meals grains, a million doses of COVID vaccine and important life-saving medicines.

Earlier final month, India supplied 1.6 tonnes of medical assist to Afghanistan via the World Health Organization (WHO). “In the approaching weeks, we’ll undertake the availability of wheat and the remaining medical assist. In this regard, we’re in contact with UN companies and others to finalize the modalities of transport,” the Ministry of External Affairs mentioned.
