Eleven individuals have been arrested close to Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium forward of India’s T20 cricket match with New Zealand on Sunday on fees of illegally promoting tickets, police stated.
He stated that sixty match tickets being bought at a better worth than the arrested individuals have been confiscated.
A senior police officer stated that safety has been tightened within the stadium and surrounding areas to forestall any untoward incident.
Over 2,000 personnel from varied items of Kolkata Police together with RAF and HRFS have been deployed. He stated that the troopers of the Anti-Rowdy Squad have been additionally deployed close to the stadium.
He stated that senior officers of the extent of Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner have additionally been deployed within the stadium and surrounding areas.
“Officers in plain clothes are also at different places around the Garden of Eden. We are not taking any chances and want to ensure that the sporting event goes smoothly,” stated the official.
