A day after the High Court order in London Fugitive diamond Nirav Modi extradited to India To face costs of fraud and cash laundering, the overseas ministry stated on Thursday that the nation “wants to bring him back as soon as possible”.
Welcoming the choice of the UK High Court, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi stated that India is making “vigorous efforts to extradite the economic fugitives so that they face justice in India”.

“We welcome his steps and we will continue our efforts to bring him back at the earliest,” Bagchi stated.
Modi, wished by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate within the Rs 13,500-crore financial institution mortgage fraud case, moved a step nearer to extradition on Wednesday after the High Court in London rejected his enchantment. Modi had appealed in opposition to the extradition order of the district courtroom on grounds of psychological well being. He had argued that he was affected by melancholy and that his extradition to India could enhance his tendency to commit suicide.
Modi faces two extra costs of “disappearance of evidence” and intimidation of witnesses or “criminal intimidation to cause death”, which have been added within the CBI case.
