The technical committee of the continuing ICC Under-19 World Cup on Saturday accredited all-rounder Vasu Vats rather than Manav Parekh within the Indian staff.

Vats is a short lived substitute for Parakh, who has examined constructive for COVID-19 and goes via a interval of isolation.

“A COVID replacement may be temporary, in that once the player has recovered he/she will be eligible to return to the team in the same position as the player who replaced him,” the ICC mentioned in an announcement.

The Indian camp was hit by the virus earlier than the staff’s second match on Wednesday. Six gamers, together with captain Yash Dhul, his deputy Sheikh Rashid, had examined constructive for COVID-19.

The approval of the Event Technical Committee is required earlier than a participant’s substitute might be formally added to the staff.

The Event Technical Committee consists of Chair Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Ben Lever (ICC Senior Event Manager), Fawaz Baksh (Tournament Director), Roland Holder (CWI consultant) Alan Wilkins and Russell Arnold (each unbiased representatives).
