IndiGo has suspended a number of pilots who have been planning to arrange a strike on Tuesday to protest towards the pay cuts that have been carried out in the course of the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, sources mentioned on Monday.

During the height of the pandemic, India’s largest airline had lower the salaries of its pilots by as a lot as 30 per cent.

On April 1, the airline introduced its resolution to extend the salaries of pilots by 8 per cent. It mentioned that one other hike of 6.5 per cent will probably be carried out from November onwards in case there are not any disruptions.

However, a bit of pilots remained unhappy and determined to arrange a strike, sources mentioned.

Therefore, a number of of them have been suspended by the airline, they added.

In a press release, the airline mentioned, “We confirm that a handful of IndiGo pilots have been suspended from duty for indulging in activities that are in contravention to the terms of their employment and in violation of the code of conduct of the company.”
