Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj passes away at 83

According to DD News, Kathak legend Pandit Birju Maharaj died of a coronary heart assault at his residence in Delhi late on Sunday night time. He was 83 years outdated.

Awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the nation’s second highest civilian award, he was born as Brij Mohan Nath Mishra on February 4, 1937, in a famend Kathak dance household.

The information comes simply days after his nephew and disciple Pt Munna Shukla handed away on the age of 78 following a quick sickness.

Pandit Birju Maharaj donated many caps throughout his lifetime. While he was generally known as a Kathak dancer, he was an equally prolific singer, poet and painter.
