Senior Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge has resigned because the Leader of the Opposition within the Rajya Sabha, sources mentioned on Saturday, a day after he filed his nomination papers for the election of the AICC president.

Kharge’s resignation, which was despatched by the 80-year-old chief to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, is according to the occasion’s acknowledged ‘one particular person, one publish’ precept, which was introduced on the Udaipur ‘Chintan Shivir’ in May.

Sources mentioned Kharge had despatched his resignation final night time.

Senior leaders P Chidambaram and Digvijaya Singh are thought of the frontrunners to carry the publish of Leader of Opposition within the Rajya Sabha.
