Lakhimpur Kheri case: SC hears plea difficult Ashish Mishra’s bail

A Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana is listening to a plea looking for cancellation of bail to Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra and an accused within the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave Monday showing for the petitioners urged that the Allahabad High Court judgment, granting bail to Mishra, needs to be put aside.

The Uttar Pradesh authorities counsel, showing for the accused, mentioned “We’ve filed an affidavit saying witnesses have been provided extensive security. We’ve contacted all 97 witnesses and they all said (there’s) no threat perception.”

Last week, the apex courtroom had sought the UP authorities’s response, It additionally identified, “it appears from the report of the monitoring judge that he recommended filing appeal for cancellation of bail”.

Ashish was granted bail by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad HC on February 10.

They claimed that after Ashish’s launch, one of many witnesses within the case was attacked on March 10 and the attackers threatened him, purportedly saying that “Ashish Mishra is out on bail and the ruling party has also won the election, and they will see him”.
