Ludhiana: Statue of Rajiv Gandhi set on fireplace

Two folks, together with a Nihang Sikh, had been arrested after a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was set on fireplace in a public park close to Piru Banda Mohalla in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

A video of the incident went viral, through which Nihang Sikh Ramandeep Singh alongside together with his associate Satpal Navi is seen pouring petrol on the statue and setting it on fireplace. Later, additionally they launched one other video through which Ramandeep is purportedly heard saying that he acted in response to native Congress chief Gursimran Singh Mand’s announcement that he would set up extra statues of Rajiv Gandhi within the metropolis.

Ramandeep purportedly says within the video, “We cannot tolerate the existing statues of Rajiv Gandhi and he (Mand) is talking of installing more such statues.. This is an answer for him. Every statue of Rajiv Gandhi That will be the end.”

Police registered an FIR at Salem Tabri police station below sections 435 (mischief with fireplace or explosive substance with intent to trigger hurt), part 153A (selling enmity) of the IPC, and sections of the IT Act, Property Act.
