After state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provoke a probe in opposition to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Transport Minister Anil Parab in reference to the Sachin Veje case, the NCP on Thursday mentioned the BJP’s transfer would backfire.

“They (BJP) have been additionally profitable in getting an ED probe in opposition to our social gathering president Sharad Pawar. However, the transfer had a reverse impact on the BJP. And now, his try and launch a CBI probe in opposition to the deputy chief minister may even backfire,” state NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil mentioned on Thursday.

While Ajit Pawar is but to touch upon the BJP’s demand, Patil mentioned it will likely be the BJP that may face embarrassment for looking for an try from the CBI to probe the NCP chief.

“This is maybe for the primary time within the historical past of India {that a} political social gathering (BJP) in its government committee assembly has handed a decision demanding a CBI inquiry in opposition to a frontrunner. This solely goes to indicate that the BJP is misusing the investigating companies. Be it CBI or ED, BJP has made them puppets to focus on the opponents. They is not going to achieve success of their sport plan. We will give them a befitting reply. His try and malign Ajit Pawar’s picture will flip into embarrassment for him.

BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari mentioned that the social gathering’s state president Chandrakant Patil has despatched a letter to the Union Home Minister demanding a CBI inquiry in opposition to Ajit Pawar and Anil Parab within the Sachin Waje case.

“Our executive committee had also passed a resolution to this effect. Sachin Waje had told an NIA court that a Darshan Godavat had asked him to take money from gutkha vendors on behalf of the Deputy CM. Waze had also said that Parab had asked them to collect Rs 2 crore each from 50 BMC contractors,” Bhandari mentioned.

“Since the CBI is probing the extortion case against Anil Deshmukh and two of his assistants on the directions of the High Court, a similar probe should be initiated against Ajit Pawar and Anil Parab. This is what we have demanded in the letter,” Bhandari mentioned.

Asked who Godavat was, Bhandari mentioned, “It is Ajit Pawar who has the answer to this allegation… why is he silent?”

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant mentioned, “When it comes to CBI probe into state affairs, it is either the state government or the high court that decides… By urging the party leader and the home minister to initiate a CBI probe, BJP only finds out on whose tune the CBI dances… That is why the states are keeping the CBI out.”
