Maharashtra orders ACB to conduct ‘open inquiry’ into ‘irregularities’

The Maharashtra authorities has ordered an open inquiry by the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau into alleged irregularities within the water conservation scheme Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan.

Under the flagship undertaking of the earlier Devendra Fadnavis authorities, 931 works could be scrutinized overtly, whereas 396 others could be subjected to departmental scrutiny.

The scheme was launched by the Fadnavis authorities in December 2014. Its purpose was to make 25,000 villages of Maharashtra drought-free.
