Main reshuffle: Giridhar Armane new protection secretary, Sanjay Malhotra as income secretary

Union Road Transport and Highways Secretary Giridhar Armane shall be India’s new Defense Secretary, a authorities order mentioned on Wednesday.

Armane is a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, who would be the Officer on Special Duty within the Defense Department. According to the order of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he’ll take excessive put up after Ajay Kumar retires later this month.

Financial Services Secretary Sanjay Malhotra would be the new Revenue Secretary. Malhotra has been posted as Officer on Special Duty within the Revenue Department. He will take over because the Revenue Secretary after Tarun Bajaj completes his time period on November 30, 2022.

The Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Vivek Joshi would be the new Secretary of the Department of Financial Services rather than Malhotra.

Additional Secretary within the Ministry of Home Affairs Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan Joshi shall be changed by the brand new Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.

Rural Development Secretary Nagendra Nath Sinha has been made the brand new Steel Secretary.

Sinha will now be the Officer on Special Duty within the Ministry of Steel with impact from December 1, 2022. He will take over because the secretary after the retirement of Sanjay Kumar Singh on December 31, 2022.

Shailesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner within the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, would be the new Rural Development Secretary from December 1.

Singh has been appointed OSD within the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development, the order mentioned.

Amrit Lal Meena, who’s presently Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, would be the new coal secretary.

Meena, who was appointed OSD within the Ministry of Coal, will take over because the secretary after the retirement of Anil Kumar Jain on October 31.

Sudhansh Pant, a 1991 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been made Secretary within the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Pant, who has been appointed as OAS within the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will take over because the secretary on January 31, 2023 after the retirement of Sanjeev Ranjan.

Kamran Rizvi, Additional Secretary within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, would be the Heavy Industries Secretary.

Rizvi has been appointed as OSD within the Ministry of Heavy Industries and can take over as Secretary after Arun Goyal retires on December 31.

Rachna Shah, Additional Secretary within the Commerce Department, has been made the brand new Textiles Secretary.

Shah, who has been appointed as OSD within the Ministry of Textiles, will take over because the secretary after Upendra Prasad Singh retires by the tip of the month.

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) chairman Bhupinder Singh Bhalla would be the new and renewable vitality secretary.

Bhalla, who has been appointed as OSD within the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, will take over as secretary after Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi completes his time period later this month.

Youth Affairs Secretary Sanjay Kumar would be the new Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy. He will take over the brand new put up after Anita Karwal retires on November 30.

National Commission for Women member secretary Mita R Lochan would be the new youth affairs secretary.

Sanjeev Chopra, a 1990 batch Odisha cadre IAS officer, has been made Secretary, Food and Public Distribution Department.

Chopra will change Sudhanshu Pandey, who’s retiring later this month.

Manoj Govil, a 1991 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
