Manchester United co-owner’s firm buys UAE T20 league franchise

Lancer Capital, headed by Avram Glazer, co-chairman of prime English soccer membership Manchester United, has made its first foray into cricket by securing a franchise within the UAE League.

Khaled Al Zarooni, President of the UAE T20 League and Vice President of the Emirates Cricket Board, welcomed Glazer to the league.

“For a partner who has invested in sports assets from a long-term investment perspective, the UAE T20 is a testament to the strength of the league’s business model and its value proposition to its stakeholders,” Zarooni stated in a launch.

Lancer Capital has invested in all kinds of best-in-class properties. Glazer is the proprietor of the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He can also be the co-chairman of Manchester United since 2005.

Glaser, chairman of Lancer Capital, stated, “I’m very excited to be a part of the UAE T20 when it was fashioned. The UAE T20 guarantees to be a world-class occasion that will probably be transformative for the event of cricket within the Emirates. ,
