Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s mom Gulshan Nazir on Wednesday appeared earlier than the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Srinagar in an alleged cash laundering case.

Mufti accompanied her mom to the ED workplace, and later tweeted that the Center has “armed” central businesses to “harass and punish political opponents”.

This was the second time that Nazir, the spouse of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, a former Union Home Minister and Chief Minister of the then state of Jammu and Kashmir, was questioned by the central company in reference to the case. The ED had first questioned her on July 17 within the case registered after she had allegedly seized diaries from her associates of former Mehbooba Mufti.

The diaries reportedly listed a number of funds made out of the CM’s discretionary fund.

Mufti later tweeted, “..chronology very clear. Last time PDP boycotted the Delimitation Commission, obtained one other summon after I held a peaceable protest on fifth August criticizing the unlawful abrogation of Article 370. was carried out.

PAGD spokesperson and CPI(M) chief MY Tarigami mentioned that “calling of the aged wife of the former Union minister by the ED is a glimmer of coercion employed by the central government to quell dissent”.
