Monsoon withdrawn from northwest India after 346% extra rainfall in October

After a delay of a fortnight, the southwest monsoon on Friday withdrew from the whole northwest India. Between October 1-14, the area recorded 58.4 mm of rain, which was 346 per cent above regular.

The Monsoon Retreat Line now passes by means of Raxaul (Bihar), Daltonganj (Jharkhand), Pendra Road (Chhattisgarh), Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), Jalgaon and Dahanu (each in Maharashtra). The Meteorological Department stated that within the coming two to a few days, the pace of withdrawal is anticipated to accentuate and retreat from extra areas of central and japanese India and Maharashtra.

“The conditions are very likely to become favorable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from more parts of Maharashtra, Central, East and Northeast India during the next three days,” IMD’s climate bulletin on withdrawal of monsoon stated on Friday.

Meanwhile, the elevated rain exercise over South Peninsular India will begin from Friday on account of two lively cyclonic winds – close to west-central Bay of Bengal and Comorin area. IMD stated Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Rayalaseema would obtain heavy rains until October 17.
