NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter had unusual ‘alien particles’ protruding

Footage from the navigation digital camera of NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter reveals a small piece of international object particles (FOD) because it was taking off from the helicopter throughout its thirty third flight. This particles was not seen within the footage of its earlier flight.

The particles resembles a spiderweb or toffee wrapper and might be seen because it flies off a helicopter within the time between the opening body of the footage and the midway level. According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, all telemetry knowledge from Ingenuity is nominal and there’s no indication of injury to the automobile. But the house company groups have no idea the place the particles got here from and at the moment are investigating it.

Flight 33 was a brief flight the place the helicopter coated a distance of about 111.23 meters at a mean velocity of 4.75 meters per second. It topped out for a time of 55.61 seconds and went to a most altitude of 10 metres.

The Ingenuity Mars Helicopter is a small solar-powered rotorcraft that landed on the Martian floor on February 19, 2021, together with the Perseverance rover. Shortly thereafter, it had its first flight on 19 April. That day, the helicopter took off, cruised and landed for a length of 39.1 seconds, creating historical past because it was the primary powered managed flight on one other planet.

The helicopter was grounded briefly after Flight 29 on 11 June. Simplicity was briefly halted by NASA as a result of it was winter and dusty season on the planet. This meant that the helicopter couldn’t obtain sufficient solar energy to run its flights. In August, the helicopter was again in operation for Flight 30. Currently, Jezero Crater on Mars has Ingenuity.
