NCP MP Fauzia Khan calls for reservation in training for Kovid-19 orphans

NCP’s Rajya Sabha MP Fauzia Khan has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the central authorities to implement reservation in training for youngsters orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic. In his letter, the MP has requested the Prime Minister to make sure such reservation in all areas of training in order that kids can full their training utterly.

The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen many households not solely shedding their incomes members but additionally the dying of each mother and father. There have additionally been stories of kids being deserted in some instances.

A complete of 1,742 kids have been orphaned, 140 have been deserted and seven,464 kids misplaced a mother or father because of the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020. National Commission for the Rights of the Child (NCPCR) informed the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister’s Office had introduced a scheme below which such kids could be given a month-to-month stipend for 5 years after the age of 18. This stipend shall be paid out of a set deposit of Rs 10 lakh which shall be opened from the PM Cares Fund. Children’s identify After 5 years the corpus shall be given to the youngsters. Khan had mentioned in his letter that the central authorities’s scheme could be carried out solely after the youngsters develop up. But to assist them full their training, the MP has demanded the central authorities to convey reservation for such kids. The scheme must be carried out in all of the verticals i.e. from pre-primary to postgraduate training. “This scheme will not only empower them but will also provide much needed educational support and guidance provided by the educational institutions,” the letter mentioned.
