A wreath-laying ceremony was held on the ‘Hut of Remembrance’ on the National Defense Academy in Pune on Saturday to pay tribute to the late squadron chief Abhinav Chaudhary, who was killed throughout a fighter airplane accident in Moga district of Punjab.

The MiG-21 Bison plane was flying from Suratgarh, Rajasthan for operations, when it crashed in Langena village on Thursday evening, when the incident occurred. NDA Commandant Lieutenant General Asit Mistry paid tribute to Bahadur in a grand ceremony on behalf of the NDA fraternity.

“Squadron Leader Abhinav Chaudhary was an alumnus of the 124 NDA Course, ‘R’ Squadron and passed out in May 2013. Subsequently, after being passed out of the Air Force Academy, he was commissioned into the Combat Section of the Indian Air Force. “Today, whereas his title is inscribed in golden letters with full army honors within the holy hut, his martyrdom will proceed to encourage future generations of NDA cadets. The NDA fraternity expresses heartfelt condolences to the bereaved household on this hour of grief.” A press assertion from the NDA issued via Defense PRO Pune stated.

“The Hut of Remembrance in the NDA is an outstanding memorial, reminiscent of the sacrifices of former NDA officers of the Armed Forces who laid down their lives while on duty,” the discharge stated.
