No fast plans to deport Rohingyas dwelling in Bengaluru: Karnataka to SC

The Karnataka authorities on Monday advised the Supreme Court that it has “no immediate plans” to deport Rohingyas dwelling within the state capital Bengaluru.

In an affidavit, the state stated: “Bengaluru City Police has not housed Rohingyas in any camp or detention heart underneath its jurisdiction. However, 72 Rohingyas recognized in Bengaluru metropolis are working in several areas and Bengaluru City Police has not taken any coercive motion in opposition to them to date and has no fast plans to deport them.

The authorities was responding to a petition searching for the identification, detention and deportation of all unlawful immigrants inside a yr.

It additionally submitted to the courtroom an inventory of 72 individuals belonging to the Rohingya neighborhood and sought dismissal of the petition filed by advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay.

In August 2017, Kiren Rijiu, the then Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, advised Parliament that states had been directed to hint and deport unlawful migrants, together with Rohingya individuals.

After this, two individuals from the Rohingya neighborhood approached the Supreme Court in opposition to the deportation plan.
