The Sri Lankan Cricket Board in an announcement on Friday stated the Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian white-ball workforce is a “strong squad” and having specialist squads and specialist gamers for numerous codecs is the newest norm.

Former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga stated it’s an “insult” that India has despatched a “second-rate” workforce for the Sri Lanka collection, which is scheduled to start on July 13.

The SLC in its assertion stated, “Sri Lanka Cricket would like to announce that despite claims from various parties… 14 players out of the 20-man Indian team have represented India in all formats or in one form or the other. (Test, ODI, or T20I), and not the ‘second string team’ as claimed.”

“This is the latest benchmark in the world of cricket, especially full ICC member countries, as they maintain specialist squads and players for each format of the game,” the assertion stated.

This comes after the Sri Lankan board criticized Ranatunga for agreeing to play the collection. He stated, ‘This is a second-rate Indian workforce and their coming right here is an insult to our cricket. I blame the present administration for agreeing to play with them due to the wants of tv advertising and marketing,” Ranatunga advised reporters at his residence, in accordance with information company PTI.

With key gamers like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in England for the upcoming Test collection, the workforce in Sri Lanka is led by opener Shikhar Dhawan and has some uncapped gamers.
