The training division of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has acquired over 250 complaints towards a number of colleges for allegedly denying admission to youngsters from poor households.

PCMC Administration Officer (Education) Jyotisna Shinde advised The Indian Express on Sunday that they’ve been receiving complaints from dad and mom that colleges are denying admission to their youngsters underneath the Right to Education (RTE) Act. “It is obligatory for colleges to present free admission to youngsters whose annual household earnings is lower than Rs one lakh. However, some colleges are denying admission to youngsters from poor households.

Shinde stated colleges are complaining that the state authorities, which has to reimburse the charges of such youngsters, has not made any cost thus far. “The school management argues that they have not received reimbursement from the state government and are, therefore, finding it difficult to run their institutions,” she stated.

“We have issued notices to 15-20 schools against whom complaints have been received. We have two verification committees. We have sent all the parents who have complained to these committees, which will force the schools to admit their children, provided their documents are in order,” Shinde stated.

Rajendra Singh, President of English School Association stated that many college managements are discovering it tough to function with none monetary assist from the federal government.

“Schools are denying free admission to youngsters as the federal government refuses to reimburse them the quantity which is in lakhs. I additionally run a faculty in Bhosari space. I’ve to get greater than Rs 100 crore from the federal government. We have given admission to greater than 500 poor youngsters until now, but the federal government has refused to reimburse the charges.

Dominic Lobo, whose household runs the National English School, Sangavi, stated, “I have to close my school because the government refused to compensate my schools. This amount was more than 15 lakhs. Running the school was difficult and so we had to close it three years ago. Sangvi’s children are now suffering as they have to travel long distances to get to a school,” he stated.
