Ok Vijay Kumar resigns as Home Ministry’s Security Advisor, citing private causes

Convicted police officer Ok Vijay Kumar, who was credited for eliminating Forest Brigadier Veerappan, has resigned from the publish of Senior Security Advisor within the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Kumar, who generally tendered his resignation for private causes, vacated his residence in Delhi and shifted to Chennai.

“I am in Chennai now after I have decided to end my tenure with the Home Ministry due to personal reasons,” he advised PTI over telephone.

Kumar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Home Ministry officers and chiefs of police forces of all states for his or her cooperation all through his tenure.

Kumar was largely advising the federal government on problems with Left Wing Extremism (LWE) moreover Jammu and Kashmir.

The 1975-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was appointed because the senior safety officer of the MHA after retiring from service in 2012 because the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

He served as an advisor to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir earlier than being re-appointed as Senior Security Advisor within the MHA in 2019.

Kumar has additionally served because the chief of the Special Task Force (STF), Tamil Nadu, which was tasked to search out the Commissioner of Chennai Police and the Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Kashmir, Veerappan.

Veerappan was killed in a well-planned operation led by Kumar in Tamil Nadu in 2004.
