Retired Jamaican quick bowler Michael Holding feels Ollie Robinson shouldn’t be severely punished for his historic racist and sexist tweets if an investigation proves he has since modified his behaviour.
Robinson has been dominated out of the second Test in opposition to New Zealand beginning Thursday at Edgbaston after historic tweets surfaced final week, when he made his Test debut at Lord’s. In an interview to Sky Sports on Tuesday, Holding stated that the ECB had taken the fitting step.
“[It was] Eight, nine years ago. Can the ECB please find out whether, beyond that time, Robinson has continued to behave like this, say these kinds of things, tweet these kinds of things? Holding said. “Because I used to be as soon as a younger man, I did a number of crap as a younger man, and as you undergo life you be taught and acknowledge ‘Oh, perhaps what I did once I was 18 is now relevant. No, I am unable to behave like that now’.
“If he did one thing like this 9 years in the past, and he is discovered one thing he hasn’t carried out since then and he is modified his methods lately, I do not suppose you need to get too down on that.
“Yes, suspend him because you want to investigate. You don’t allow him to continue playing, like on Thursday, while there’s an investigation going on at the same time, because if you find out terrible things happen in that investigation. But Hurry it up, let’s finish it quickly.”

Fast bowler James Anderson stated on Tuesday that England gamers have accepted an apology for Ollie Robinson’s racist and sexist feedback he posted on social media as an adolescent.
