Organizers affirm India will host MotoGP race in 2023

India will stage a MotoGP race on the Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi from 2023, organizers stated on Friday.

Commercial rights holder Dorna Sports stated earlier this month that they have been in talks with the state authorities of Uttar Pradesh and India’s sports activities ministry.

“We have a lot of fans in India and we are excited to be able to bring the sport to them,” Carmelo Azpelet, CEO of Dorna Sports, stated in a press release.

“India is also a major market for the motorcycle industry and, therefore, by extension, as the pinnacle of the two-wheeled world for MotoGP.”

The 5.14 km observe on the outskirts of New Delhi hosted Formula One races between 2011–13 earlier than being dropped from the calendar.

Earlier this week MotoGP introduced that it had agreed a five-year deal to stage race at Sokol International Racetrack in Kazakhstan from 2023.

The 2023 season of MotoGP will start from March 24-26 with a race on the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal.
