The Center instructed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that no loss of life attributable to lack of oxygen was “specifically reported” by the states and union territories throughout the second Covid-19 wave within the nation.

“All states and union territories commonly report circumstances and deaths to the Union Health Ministry. However, no loss of life has been reported by the states and union territories, particularly attributable to lack of oxygen.

Soon after the Centre’s assertion in a written reply to Minister of State for Health Bharati Praveen Pawar, AICC basic secretary KC Venugopal accused the minister of “misleading” the House. Describing the assertion as “condemnable”, Rajya Sabha MP Venugopal, whose query was answered, mentioned he would transfer a privilege movement towards the minister.

Espionage controversy dominates second day’s proceedings as opposition calls for JPC probe

Protests over the Pegasus espionage controversy dominated the proceedings of the Lok Sabha on the second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, resulting in steady disruption of the proceedings on Tuesday and repeated adjournments of the House.

As the House proceedings started at 11 am, opposition members together with Congress and TMC raised slogans and confirmed placards to assault the federal government on the problem of espionage. The proceedings barely lasted for 5 minutes because the House was adjourned.

It was written on a placard in Hindi that whereas individuals are battling unemployment, the federal government is busy in ‘jasusi’ (espionage). The same scene was witnessed when the House resumed at 2 pm and was later adjourned until 11 am on July 22.
