Pep Guardiola says he has no plans to depart Manchester City in 2023

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola clarified feedback about his future on Friday (27 August) and stated he has no plans to depart the Premier League champions when his contract expires in 2023.

The Spaniard was quoted as saying at a Brazilian monetary convention this week that he wished to take a break earlier than a attainable transfer to worldwide soccer.

“I am not thinking of leaving after two years,” he advised reporters forward of City’s Premier League recreation at Arsenal on Saturday.

“I’d depart in perhaps two months when the outcomes are usually not good or the group is bored with me or I can not deal with these gamers higher. I can depart in three months like I can depart in 5 years.

“What I said… I’ll take a break after my period at Manchester City. that’s for sure. It can happen in one month, in two years, in three years, in five years. Right now, today, I have no reason to leave.”

City are eyeing Champions League success after dropping to Chelsea in final season’s remaining.

“I am more than committed to this season, we are going to try to do better, especially to play better, that is my goal,” Guardiola stated.

“So when I’m completed I’ll take some relaxation, as a result of 12-13 years virtually continuous, I wished to do one thing else. And then perhaps a brand new workforce or a nationwide workforce if somebody desires me.

“But I haven’t said in two years that I’m going to end my career at Manchester City.”

The 50-year-old Spaniard arrived in Manchester from Bayern Munich in 2016.
