Perusal of SIT report reveals ‘sham checks’ carried out in 1984 anti-Sikh riots, SC tells

The Supreme Court was informed on Thursday that perusal of a report filed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) means that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots have carried out a “sham” check.

Senior advocate HS Phoolka, showing for petitioner S Gurlad Singh Kahlon, referred to the SIT report filed on November 29, 2019 and mentioned that the way wherein the trial has been carried out reveals that the whole system has failed.

Referring to the report, Phoolka mentioned that perusal of the circumstances reveals that in a single FIR, the police despatched challans in reference to the homicide of 56 folks by linking completely different circumstances.
