PM Modi launches Ujjwala 2.0 to supply free LPG connections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the second part of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Ujjwala 2.0 by handing over LPG connections in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.

After the formal launch, the Prime Minister just about distributed free fuel connections to 10 girls.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath handed over paperwork to girls on behalf of the PM.

During the launch of Ujjwala 1.0 in 2016, a goal was set to supply LPG connections to 5 crore girls members of BPL households.

Also, the goal was revised to eight crore LPG connections. Officials stated this was achieved in August 2019, seven months forward of schedule.

The provision of 1 crore further LPG connections underneath the scheme was introduced within the Union Budget for 2021-22.

These one crore further connections underneath Ujjwala 2.0 are geared toward offering deposit-free LPG connections to low-income households that might not be coated underneath the primary part of PMUY.
