PM Narendra Modi to attend SCO Summit in Uzbekistan on 15-16 September: Ministry of External Affairs

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday formally introduced the go to of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Samarkand, Uzbekistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on September 15 and 16.

“At the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Samarkand, Uzbekistan from 15-16 September 2022 to attend the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State,” the ministry stated in an announcement. Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

It can be said that the SCO summit might be attended by leaders of SCO Member States, Observer States, Secretary General of SCO, Executive Director of SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), President of Turkmenistan and different invited visitors.

PM Modi can be prone to maintain some bilateral conferences on the sidelines of the summit.

This would be the first particular person summit since June 2019 when the SCO summit was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi are among the many anticipated leaders on the summit.

India’s presence on the summit is important as it should assume the rotational presidency of the SCO on the finish of the Samarkand summit.
