To curb the stray canine inhabitants within the metropolis, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is all set to acquire 15 canine seize vans and arrange seven sterilization facilities throughout town.
“PMC is sterilizing stray dogs in the city through private agencies. However, the dog population has not come under control and cases of dog menace are increasing,” mentioned Prakash Wagh, Veterinary Officer, PMC.
He mentioned that PMC would quickly be a part of arms with a social group to sterilize canine. “We were till now getting the dogs sterilized through a private agency. However, this will now be done free of cost by a social organisation,” Wagh mentioned, including that the company’s paid service may also proceed to carry the canine inhabitants underneath management.
He mentioned the non-public company has already offered one canine pound for sterilization of stray canine and two extra kilos will likely be handed over to them on civilian land.

“PMC has also decided to appoint two more private agencies for sterilization of stray dogs. They will have to do it in a private plot and the civic body will pay for it,” he mentioned.
