Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is procuring electrical energy via open entry to scale back its rising electrical energy payments.
PMC takes care of services like water therapy plant, water pumping station, sewerage therapy plant, highway infrastructure, hospital, college, backyard, auditorium, workplace constructing and so forth. The month-to-month electrical energy invoice for these services is available in crores.
“PMC has started to reduce its expenditure on electricity and use non-conventional power through projects like renewable sources of energy like solar and waste to energy. It is now planning to explore various cost saving measures related to the purchase of power through open access power procurement,” stated Srinivas Kandul, chief engineer at PMC.
Open entry techniques permit a purchaser to choose and select electrical energy suppliers as an alternative of being tied to a single supplier.
The civic physique will appoint a marketing consultant to guage the assorted obtainable choices for buy of energy via the open entry route. Kandul stated, “The consultant will do a detailed study of the energy requirements of the PMC and explore the possible sources of power purchase through the open access route for the civic body.”
He stated the marketing consultant will analyze the present infrastructure inside 15 days.
“Based on the trends of PMC’s power procurement strategy for the last three years, the consultant will have to formulate a sustainable and optimal low-cost power procurement strategy,” Kandul stated.
