Work on the brand new residence and workplace of the Prime Minister, a part of the Central Vista redevelopment challenge, will transcend the goal of completion by December 2022.

The plots on which the PMO and Executive Enclave are proposed to be constructed are at present occupied by protection institution huts that are being shifted to KG Marg and Africa Avenue in New Delhi.

Under the scheme, the Prime Minister’s new residence is to be constructed on a 15-acre plot close to South Block.

According to the CPWD’s timeline, the PM Awas was to be accomplished by December 2022. But now that’s sure to vary.

A spokesperson for HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt Ltd, the advisory agency for the challenge, instructed The Indian Express: “The plots, where the PMO and executive enclaves are proposed, are currently occupied by defense huts. These are in the process of being moved to new purpose-built buildings on KG Marg and Africa Avenue. So, at this point of time, we do not have any fixed timeline for PMO and PMR.”

“The design for PMO and PMR is in its idea stage. The overarching objective is to supply fashionable and extremely purposeful amenities at one place, cut back infrastructure redundancies and enhance the site visitors administration of the town,” the HCP spokesperson stated.

Officials say the brand new Parliament constructing is predicted to be accomplished by the winter session of 2022. Central Vista Avenue is predicted to be accomplished by the tip of this yr.

“North and South blocks are being studied and surveyed… At present, the focus is on three buildings which have been tendered. The details of the designs of the rest of the buildings are being given,” stated the HCP spokesperson .

The North and South blocks are proposed to be transformed into National Museum whereas the prevailing National Museum constructing is to be demolished.

On the proposed demolition of a number of central authorities buildings beneath the plan, the HCP stated the demolition would happen in phases.

“In the first phase, only the buildings in the IGNCA campus will be demolished for the construction of the first three common Central Secretariat buildings,” the spokesperson stated.

IGNCA can be shifted first to the Janpath Hotel after which to Jamnagar House by 2023, and the prevailing buildings within the IGNCA campus can be demolished to make room for the primary three secretariat buildings.
