Police: Bag discovered at Stockholm pageant contained explosives

A bag containing an explosive cost was present in a Stockholm park throughout an annual cultural pageant and police have launched a preliminary investigation into an tried public destruction, police in Sweden stated on Monday.

On Sunday, a bag was discovered and its contents had been instantly “rated as dangerous.” Police stated the encompassing space has been cordoned off and visitors has been briefly resumed. The bomb disposal squad defused the contents of the bag on the spot.

Local police supervisor Eric Akerlund stated: “Only after an investigation at the National Forensic Center can we say whether the dangerous object was in operation.” The police division stated it was working “extensively”, interviewing witnesses and inspecting photograph and video photos. Currently nobody is in custody.

Police stated the bag was discovered at 9.40 pm on Sunday. Aftonbladet newspaper stated it was deserted close to the Café Opera, a well-known nightclub. The five-day Stockholm Culture Festival ended on Sunday with a live performance by Iranian pop singer AB, whose actual title is Ebrahim Hamidi, a well known Iranian dissident. The free pageant included musical acts, actions and performances in six areas of the Swedish capital.
