Indian legend PT Usha on Saturday filed her nomination for the submit of President of the Indian Olympic Association, her Twitter revealed. “With the warm support of my fellow athletes and National Federations, I am honored and privileged to accept and file my nomination for President of the IOA,” she tweeted.
Usha and Olympic bronze-medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt had been among the many eight sportspersons chosen to vote by the newly-elected Athletes Commission throughout the December 10 elections of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
The different six SOMs are MM Somaya (hockey), Rohit Rajpal (tennis), Akhil Kumar (boxing), Suma Shirur (taking pictures), Aparna Popat (badminton) and Dola Banerjee (archery).

Under the brand new structure of the IOA, the eight SOMs, which shall be a part of the General Assembly with voting rights, have 4 male and 4 feminine members. The IOA has already accredited the structure below the necessary path of the Supreme Court.
Over 70 former athletes utilized for the eight SOM roles and the Athletes’ Commission of the IOA shaped a five-member sub-committee to shortlist the candidates.
The 10-member Athletes’ Commission was elected on 14 November. A day later, boxing legend MC Mary Kom was appointed its president, whereas desk tennis ace Achanta Sharath Kamal was made its vice-president. Other members of the Athletes Commission are PV Sindhu, Shiva Keshavan, Mirabai Chanu, Gagan Narang, Rani Rampal, Bhavani Devi, Bajrang Lal and OP Karhana.
