Pune: Dawn, villagers of Haveli go on starvation strike to protest in opposition to land acquisition for Ring Road

With the state authorities emphasizing on the implementation of the long-pending Ring Road in Pune district, farmers of Haveli and Bhor talukas have began a starvation strike outdoors the Tehsil workplace to protest the development of the Ring Road, for which their farm acquisition is required.

The villagers stated the protest would proceed with 5 villagers from every affected village sitting on dharna day by day and following Covid-appropriate behaviour.

“We have submitted memorandums to numerous authorities places of work and political leaders. However, there was no response from their facet. If the calls for are usually not met, protests can be held on the district headquarters after which on the tehsil stage on the state stage.

He stated that the demand is to cancel the undertaking and if the state authorities needs to go forward with it, then plan it on the barren land. He stated that the utmost width of the highway must be 36 meters as in opposition to the present 110 meters proposed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for 170 kilometers.

A complete of two,300 hectares of land is required in 38 villages for the undertaking and the land acquisition is anticipated to price Rs 5,000 crore. The undertaking can be developed in two phases – East and West.

The state authorities has made a finances provision of Rs 26,000 crore for the event of ring roads to divert site visitors passing by way of town.
