Online fraudsters duped a Pune-based businessman of Rs 7.8 lakh on a false assurance of giving him a license to run a petroleum pump.
The complainant Swaminathan Singh (49) wished to begin a petroleum pump and therefore he submitted his data on a web site by filling an internet type. The police stated that the complainant didn’t get any response from the web site, however after just a few days he began getting calls from the fraudster.
Between December 2020 and April 2021, the fraudster, who recognized himself as Rakesh Mishra, referred to as the complainant repeatedly on his cellphone with the supply of giving him petrol pump license. The police stated that there have been a number of conversations between the accused and the complainant on WhatsApp.
Police stated the accused allegedly demanded cash from the complainant for issuing NOC in addition to a ‘safety deposit’ for the petrol pump licence. The complainant, who’s a businessman, transferred Rs 7,80,600 by means of a number of transfers in several financial institution accounts, as per the directions of the accused.
After realizing that he had been duped, Singh approached the police and lodged a criticism.
