Pune: Tech startup initiative ‘Covid Helpdesk’ offers options via chatbot service

Mumbai-based tech startup Machadalo has provide you with a COVID-19 data service that acts as a WhatsApp chatbot. The service, named ‘Covid Helpdesk’, offers options in about 540 out of 742 districts within the nation, Shyamali Khanna, who leads the volunteer programme, advised The Indian Express.

Users can talk with the chatbot on WhatsApp by initiating a dialog with the quantity 7208880208. It offers the consumer with a menu from which a selected class of knowledge and a metropolis will be chosen. It additionally lists examples of questions like oxygen cylinder in Guwahati, beds in Mysore, medical doctors in Maharashtra and so forth.

“A team of over 20 members came together on April 20 during the second wave of Covid. We started rescue and relief work from April 27 by helping 500 to 800 people daily. The form of help is also evolving. Initially, it was around oxygen cylinders and concentrators. Now, it is all about finding a bed and ensuring free online medical consultation to the residents of Tier 3 and 4 city. We have over 450 doctors and 300 volunteers helping us,” Khanna stated. He additionally gave an instance of how a girl in Pune discovered an oxygen mattress for her maid via a chatbot service.

“Now we want to move towards rehabilitation and prevention. Around 725 residential societies have approached us for the vaccine campaign. We are using forecasting techniques to define disaster probabilities to be well equipped to fight the third wave of COVID. We are also going to use the same volunteer base to help rehabilitate those who have lost their jobs,” Khanna stated.
