After receiving a number of complaints from dad and mom about charge hike in faculties even throughout the pandemic, state faculty schooling minister Varsha Gaikwad introduced that district charge regulation committees can be fashioned late Monday evening to deal with such points. .

He stated on Twitter, “Parents saddened by the unjust faculty charge hike, look no additional. Mandal Fee Regulatory Committees (DFRCs) are actually lively in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad. While most academic establishments are in a shambles throughout the pandemic are working, we’re nonetheless getting representations/complaints from dad and mom relating to overcharging by some. DFRC will likely be constituted quickly for remaining divisions. Based on the suggestions of the choice panel, we’ve got executed state degree revision The committee has additionally been strengthened. Our coverage discourages commercialization and profiteering within the schooling sector. Strict motion will likely be taken towards the erring faculties. (sic)

For Pune district, the committee has 4 members together with retired district choose Vivek Hood as chairman, and Gangadhar Mahamane, retired director of schooling; TN Supe, Mandal President, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education; Chartered Accountant Abhijit Mahale; and Regional Deputy Director of Education, Pune.

The Maharashtra Fee Regulation Act, 2011 offers for the structure of a Mandal Fee Regulatory Committee to resolve charge associated complaints between the varsity administration and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). According to the Act, faculties can solely enhance the annual charge by a most of 15 per cent each two years. The resolution to hike charges must be permitted by the PTA constituted on the faculty degree.

However, schooling activists have already raised objections. “There is a fundamental loophole in the rules which makes the whole process difficult for the parents. Earlier, if a parent has to complain to DFRC, it has to be done within a month of the fee hike, but last year many schools increased the fees. In many schools, there are no PTAs due to the pandemic. However, as per the Act, the approval of the PTA is required for fee hike and it is the PTA who can complain against the fee hike. Otherwise, 25% of the parents can come together and complain. But it is against the principle of justice. If single parents also have complaints, why shouldn’t they be heard? All these issues need to be resolved, mere formation of DFRC is not enough,” stated AAP’s metropolis unit employee and chief Mukund Kirdat.
