In response, Tarantino stated, “There’s no truth to the idea that Kanye West came up with the idea for Django and then he said to me, and I go, ‘Oh, wow, that’s a really great idea. Me. Let’s take Kanye’s idea and free Django from the chain.’ It did not happen.”

He continued, “Before I met Kanye, I had the idea for Django for a while. He wanted to do a huge movie version of The College Dropout (his album) the way he did the album…Video As crass as … these movies, the movies were each based on different tracks,” Tarantino stated.

“We used it as an excuse to meet each other and so we met each other, we had a really good time. And he had an idea for a video. I think it was for the Gold Digger video… that he would be a slave. And the whole thing was Das Katha where he is a slave and he is singing Gold Digger. And it was a lot of fun. It was a really, really funny idea,” Tarantino stated.
