Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday flagged off indigenously designed and manufactured tools to expedite the development of viaducts for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor. The venture is delayed on account of a number of causes together with pandemic and land acquisition problem.
The Span Launching Equipment- Straddle Carrier and Girder Transporter of 1,100 MT capability has been indigenously designed and manufactured by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) at Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, officers mentioned.
Addressing the gathering by video conferencing from Delhi, Vaishnav mentioned that with this India is now coming in a choose group of nations like Italy, Norway, Korea and China, that are designing and manufacturing such tools.

L&T has partnered with 55 Micro-Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for the venture.
“This will speed up the development of High Speed Railway (HSR), as is the confirmed know-how in Metro and related initiatives. Work has already began on 325 km (in Gujarat) of the 508 km hall between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
“The venture can even enhance ability units in numerous rail building applied sciences. The Japanese counterpart can even present coaching to staff and contractors of National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. More than 6,000 employees are already working at numerous building websites for the venture. It is creating employment alternatives for the native youth.
More than 97 % of the land in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and 30 % of the land in Maharashtra has been acquired for the venture.
Vaishnav additional mentioned that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail venture is predicted to create over 90,000 jobs within the sector, together with 51,000 jobs for technicians, expert and unskilled employees.
The building of the 325-km viaduct superstructure between Vapi and Ahmedabad in Gujarat would require 20 such launching gadgets.
“If we are to achieve the results of the 21st century, we must adopt the mindset of the 21st century. This straddle carrier and girder transporter is a very good example of the mindset of the 21st century,” the minister mentioned.
