The BCCI has launched a brand new itinerary for home cricket in India with the 2021-22 season of the Ranji Trophy event scheduled to be performed from January 5 to March 20.

The Ranji Trophy was not held over the past season because of the constraints arising because of the COVID-19 pandemic and there being an prolonged bio-bubble for 38 groups.

The blue-riband event is again within the BCCI’s home calendar, however senior males’s cricket will begin from October 27 with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which shall be held after the IPL to make sure availability of high quality cricketers.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy (National ODI) shall be performed from December 1 to 29, whereas the senior girls will play their first event – a nationwide one-day – from October 20 to November 20.

The season begins with a Women’s and Men’s Under-19 ODI (Vinoo Mankad) beginning 20 September and shall be adopted by an Under-19 Challenger Trophy for each ladies and men beginning 25 and 26 October respectively.

The U-25 (State A) ODIs shall be performed from November 9 to December 10 whereas the CK Nayudu Trophy (additionally U-25 from final yr’s U-23) will start on January 6.

Grouping

For senior males’s tournaments (Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy), 38 groups shall be divided into six teams. There shall be 5 elite teams with six groups and one plate group with eight groups.

For the under-25 degree, there shall be 5 elite teams of six groups every and a plate group of seven groups.
