Addressing the India Space Congress right here, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apoorva Chandra mentioned that out of 898 tv channels broadcast within the nation, 532 use international satellites for uplinking and downlinking their providers.
“We want to decontrol the uplinking of satellites as per the guidelines so that India can become a hub,” Chandra mentioned.
He mentioned that the uplinking and downlinking pointers had been final issued in 2011 and the method of revising them was underway.
“The guidelines will be revised soon, maybe within a month,” Chandra later advised reporters.
